About Grant Assist SA

Independent information. Clear editorial standards.

Grant Assist SA is an independent South African website. We publish clear, carefully reviewed information for readers who need to understand a process, a requirement or a decision that affects them.

Who we are

Grant Assist SA is an independent information website published for readers in South Africa. We write for people who are trying to work something out: how a process runs, what a requirement means, what a result on a screen is actually telling them.

Our work is to take public information that is scattered across several websites, forms and notices, and set it out in plain language. We aim for articles that answer the question a reader actually arrived with, in the order they need it, without assuming prior knowledge.

We are not a government service and we are not a decision maker. Where an official service is required, we say so and send readers to it. Editorial content and any commercial content are kept clearly separate, so readers can always tell which is which.

Making useful information easier to understand

We believe readers deserve information that is clear, useful and presented with transparency.

That means explaining a process rather than summarising it, naming the source of a claim, and being clear about what we do not know.

Our editorial approach

These are the standards we hold our own work to. They describe what we aim for on every article, and what a reader is entitled to expect from us.

Accurate

Information is researched and presented carefully, and checked against its sources before it is published.

Clear

Complex topics are explained in straightforward language, without jargon that assumes the reader already understands the subject.

Transparent

Readers should be able to understand the purpose and nature of what they are reading, including whether it is editorial or commercial.

Responsible

We avoid misleading claims, fabricated information and unnecessary sensationalism, particularly on subjects where a reader may act on what we publish.

Reader-focused

Articles are written to provide genuine informational value rather than to generate clicks.

Editorial independence

Editorial decisions are made on editorial grounds: whether a subject is relevant to our readers, whether we can report it accurately, and whether it is genuinely useful.

Where commercial relationships exist, they do not determine what we cover or the conclusions we reach. Any sponsored or commercial content is labelled so that readers can identify it, and advertising is presented so that it is distinguishable from editorial content. Where an article contains an affiliate or commercial link, that relationship is disclosed on the article.

Grant Assist SA is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by the South African Social Security Agency, the Department of Social Development or any government authority.

How we check information

We make reasonable efforts to verify factual claims before publication. Names, dates, figures, and any legal or procedural statement a reader might act on are checked against a source before an article runs.

We cannot guarantee that every statement on this website is correct at every moment. Rules, rates and official processes change, sometimes without notice. Where a subject is likely to change, we say so and point readers to the authority that holds the current position.

Sources we may rely on include:

Government sourcesOfficial organisationsCompany statementsPublic recordsReputable publicationsSubject-matter experts

When we get something wrong

Editorial review reduces errors but does not eliminate them. When we publish something that is factually wrong, we correct it.

We correct factual errors once they are identified, update materially incorrect information clearly rather than quietly, take reader reports seriously, and keep the corrections process transparent so that readers can see what changed.

Transparency matters

A reader should not have to guess how a website works. These are the things we think you are entitled to know about us, and where to find each one.

  • Who publishes this website
  • How editorial content is produced and reviewed
  • How corrections are made and recorded
  • How commercial content is identified
  • How to contact us with a question or a correction

Information should earn your trust

Our aim is to give you useful information in a clear and responsible way, and to be open about the standards we work to and any commercial relationships behind what you read. If we fall short of that, we would rather hear about it than not.
